The question isn’t “what are we going to do,” the question is “what aren’t we going to do?”

When I first saw this movie I thought Cameron was the most beautiful boy I had ever seen. I was 8.

I know…

I know everyone is so happy about Obama’s announcement about supporting same sex marriage & trust me I am all for equality in marriage but what really saddens me is the timing. He didn’t do this while he was president but while he was campaigning for another term. It was a political move & to me one of the worst ways to get support. If he had done this two years ago I would have been proud, not to say that I agree with everything he says. The tactic of using this issue as a way to gain supporters or contributions makes me believe that this is not an important issue for him. His campaign manager told him that this would be a good idea & I really think it will cost him in the end. I feel that this is a much bigger issue, one that should be left up to the states, & that he used it as a political gain.

The other thing that angers me is that people fail to see that this issue has gone to the masses many times in many different states. Yet, people still blame conservatives for trying to keep “traditional” values. If this issue is so strong to so many then where are the votes? It’s a cliche but a lot of the time the people who complain the most are the ones who didn’t vote. It’s cliche that the young people don’t vote but it’s also very true. I have voted in every election since I was 18. It’s very sad when talent shows like “American Idol” have more of a voter turnout than our actual national elections.

Yes, I am conservative but that does not make me a fascist. For some reason, this is what I am expected to be. I am pro same-sex marriage. I feel that if you love someone whether you are gay, straight, or bi you should be allowed to express that in any way you choose.

I am not at all thrilled about Leo being cast as the amazing Gatsby (nor Tobey Maguire as Nick) but I will watch this when it comes out if only for Carrie Mulligan.
